Senior Marketing Support Shaped Around the Realities of Manufacturing

Manufacturing businesses operate in complex, fast-moving environments. Products are technical. Sales cycles are long. Markets shift. New innovations are constantly coming to market. At the same time, production pressures, supply challenges and operational demands can quickly change priorities.

In this context, marketing has to work harder. It needs to provide clarity, bring structure, support sales and product decisions, and adapt as conditions change, without losing sight of the bigger picture.

My approach is built around that reality.

With over 25 years’ experience working within B2B manufacturing organisations, I work as a senior marketing partner to leadership teams, bringing perspective, structure and practical support to help marketing genuinely serve the business.

My Approach

Every engagement is shaped around the needs of the business and the type of support required, whether that’s fractional leadership, strategic consultancy, interim support or focused project delivery.  What remains consistent is how I work.

Building real understanding - I start by taking time to properly understand your business — your products, markets, customers, commercial goals and challenges. This means working closely with leadership, sales and technical teams, and wherever possible visiting site to see the manufacturing environment first-hand and meet the people behind the business.

Bringing clarity and focus - From there, I look at how marketing is currently operating and where clarity is needed. That might be around positioning, priorities, performance, structure or opportunity. My role is to help simplify complexity, question long-standing assumptions where helpful, and identify where attention will genuinely make a difference.

Shaping direction and priorities Where appropriate, I support the development of clear strategies, plans or project frameworks that give marketing a joined-up direction and align activity to commercial goals.

Supporting and leading progress - Depending on the engagement, I may be leading the marketing function, working alongside internal teams, directing agencies, or taking ownership of specific initiatives. The focus is always on keeping work moving, aligned and commercially grounded.

Maintaining visibility and learning - I place strong emphasis on clear objectives, review points and performance visibility, so marketing can be understood, refined and strengthened over time as markets, products and business priorities evolve.

Across all services, the emphasis is on clarity, accountability and practical progress.

How I Work in Practice: Remote or On-Site

I work in a flexible, efficient way that balances accessibility with proper understanding.

My work is primarily delivered remotely, allowing businesses to access senior marketing support without the cost or disruption of a full-time, on-site role.

However, I strongly believe that understanding manufacturing processes and products really matters. Where possible, I always recommend an initial site visit to see the environment first-hand and build a real understanding of your products, processes and culture.

Beyond that, any on-site time is planned and purposeful, for example for key meetings, planning sessions or major project milestones. It is always about adding value, not about presence for its own sake.

Let's talk...

If you’re thinking about how to evolve your marketing, I’d love to hear about your business and explore how I might be able to help.
