Clarity That Supports Better Marketing Decisions

There are points in most manufacturing businesses where marketing becomes harder to read.
Leads change. Enquiries feel different. Budgets don’t stretch as far. New markets or products have been added. The website has evolved. Suppliers have come and gone. Reporting exists, but it doesn’t always tell the full story.
Often, teams are so busy reacting to day-to-day demands that there simply isn’t the time or headspace to properly step back and assess what marketing is really delivering. A marketing review creates that space. It provides an experienced, external perspective on how your marketing is performing across positioning, channels, messaging, systems and spend, looking not just at activity, but at effectiveness, alignment and opportunity. It identifies where change could unlock better results.
My role is to step into your business, look at your marketing with fresh, commercially grounded eyes, and give you a clear, honest view of where things stand and where your attention is best focused. The outcome is clarity and direction, a practical understanding of what is working, what to build on and what to reconsider.

Marketing Audits & Reviews for B2B Manufacturing Businesses
A fresh, senior perspective on whether your marketing is really working.
The Marketing Review & Audit service is designed to give manufacturing businesses a clear, objective view of their current marketing performance, what’s working, what isn’t, and where the biggest opportunities and risks sit.
It’s ideal if marketing activity has built up over time, but you’re no longer confident it’s delivering the impact it should. Or if lead flow has slowed, budgets feel stretched, or priorities have become unclear.
This service provides the space to step back, assess and refocus, with practical recommendations grounded in manufacturing and B2B experience.
Let’s make sure marketing is really working for your business!
For many manufacturing businesses, marketing develops gradually. Over time, activity builds up, channels multiply and suppliers change, but without a structured review, it’s difficult to know if everything is still working and where to focus next. This service creates that clarity and is particularly helpful if:
Lead generation has slowed or become inconsistent.
Marketing activity is happening, but its impact is unclear.
You’re just doing what you’ve always done.
Budgets are being spent without confidence in return.
You want to understand which marketing activities are delivering the strongest return, so you can invest your budget more effectively.
You want to improve the quality of leads rather than just volume.
You haven’t had time to properly step back and review marketing performance.
Your markets, products or customers have evolved.
You’re questioning whether your positioning and messaging are still right.
You want to identify new opportunities, risks or emerging threats.
How I Work and What I Review...
A marketing review should go far beyond activity and output. My approach is to look at your marketing in the context of your markets, products, commercial goals and operating reality.
Each review is tailored, but typically covers the following areas:
Market & Competitive Context:
I build a clear picture of your business environment, including your markets, customer segments, routes to market and competitor positioning.
Brand Positioning and Messaging:
I review how clearly your value is articulated across products and markets. This includes assessing your USPs, messaging consistency, and how well your positioning reflects customer needs, technical strengths and competitive differentiation.

Commercial and Strategic Alignment:
I review how marketing supports your business priorities, including growth plans, sales objectives, product focus and market development.
Products, Markets and Routes to Market:
I assess whether your market focus, product portfolio and routes to market are clearly defined and whether marketing activity is properly aligned.

Channels, Digital Presence and Sales Enablement:
I review the effectiveness of your marketing channels, including website and digital presence, campaigns, exhibitions and sales tools.
Operations, Systems and Measurement:
I review processes, resourcing, budgets, CRM usage and performance metrics to help strengthen structure, reporting and systems, giving clearer visibility and more confidence in decision-making.

At the end of the review, you receive a clear, structured findings and recommendations document that focuses on clarity and action, giving you a realistic view of where marketing stands today and where your attention and investment will have the greatest impact.
For some clients, this becomes a standalone piece of work. For others, it naturally leads into a Marketing Strategy Blueprint or an ongoing Fractional Marketing Director engagement to support delivery.
If you’d like to discuss whether a Marketing Review & Audit would be the right starting point for your business, I’d be very happy to arrange an initial conversation to understand your needs and explore how I could add value.
FAQ's
Do I need a marketing Review and Audit? If you’re questioning whether your marketing is really working for your business, that’s usually a good sign that a review would be valuable. A marketing review provides an objective, experienced perspective to help you understand where marketing is supporting the business, where it may be underperforming, and where attention would be best placed next. It is an excellent excercise when you need clarity before making decisions. That might be before increasing marketing investment, entering new markets, launching new products, restructuring teams or revisiting your growth plans. It gives you a clearer, evidence-based understanding of what is happening in your marketing today, so future decisions are grounded in insight rather than assumption.
How long does a Marketing Review and Audit take? Most Marketing Reviews & Audits are completed within three to four weeks. This allows time to understand the business context, review current activity and performance, assess positioning and channels, and develop meaningful, practical recommendations. The exact timeframe depends on the size and complexity of the business, the number of products or markets involved, and the depth of review required. Smaller, more focused reviews can be delivered more quickly, while broader or multi-market businesses may benefit from a slightly longer engagement. At the outset, a clear scope, timeline and milestones are agreed, so you know exactly what to expect and when.
What typically happens after a marketing review? For some businesses, the review is a standalone piece of work. I provide a clear findings and recommendations document, talk through the outputs with your leadership team, and the business takes those insights forward internally. For others, the review highlights a need for greater structure, clearer direction or a more defined marketing plan. In these cases, the review often becomes the foundation for a Marketing Strategy Blueprint engagement. In businesses where there is no senior marketing leadership in place, or where additional support is needed to drive progress, the review can also lead into an ongoing fractional marketing director role. This allows me to take ownership of the marketing function, embed the recommendations, and provide continued senior marketing leadership. The approach is flexible. The review gives you clarity first, and from there you can decide what level of support, if any, would be most valuable.
